Our backup mail service provides an extra level of protection for customers who require the utmost in reliability for
email running on their own domain. Available to customers hosted at PrimeHost, at any other provider, or
for mail servers onsite at your
own premises, our backup mail service provides complete peace-of-mind that no single message is lost in that event that
your primary mail server is offline or unreachable. Compatible with all domain email accounts, our enterprise class
solution ensures you will never miss an email again.
When an email is sent to a recipient, mail delivery is first attempted to deliver email to your primary mail server. If your primary mail server is not reachable or offline, the mail is delivered to our backup mail server network. The email is then queued and we re-attempt delivery to your primary mail server every 10 minutes. When your primary mail server is back online, the queued mail is then delivered to your primary mail server from our backup mail server network. We keep attempting to deliver mail to your primary server for 7 days.
